Faculty of Architecture – University of Belgrade is opening the exhibition RIBA President’s Medals 2015 on 4 April, Day of Students of Belgrade University, to mark the beginning of the official celebration of 170 years of architectural education in Serbia.
This significant jubilee marks 1846, a year of establishment of Engineering School within Belgrade Lyceum. The school is founded by the official act signed by the Serbian Duke Aleksandar Karadjordjević and represents the foundation of higher education in the field of architecture and civil engineering in Serbia. The forming of the school and its education programmes are results of great endeavours of Emilijan Josimović, the first urban planner, engineer, writer, professor and rector of Lyceum (later transformed into The Higher School).
