The Faculty of Architecture – University of Belgrade, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Serbia, hosted the guest lecture “The Culture of Habitation: Ambassadors’ Residence”, held by His Excellence Mr. Takahiko Katsumata, the Ambassador of Japan to Serbia at the Faculty of Architecture (Hall 200) on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 6 PM.

This lecture is one of a number of activities marking 140 years of friendly relations between Serbia and Japan (1882-2022), as well as the established collaboration between the Faculty of Architecture and the Embassy of Japan in the fields of cultural exchange and deepening mutual understanding between our two countries.

During the lecture His Excellency Mr. Katsumata explained the challenges of a career diplomat, clarified different ways in which the Residence building is used in an official capacity and gave recommendations to future architects on the best spatial strategies when designing this typology.

After the lecture, the students inquired about specific aspects about which H.E. Mr. Katsumata spoke in his lecture. This opportunity was used to underline the dedication and commitment with which the Embassy of Japan continues to cooperate with Serbia through various projects, with the aim of deepening friendly relations based on mutual cooperation.
