Students from the Faculty of Architecture at RWTH Aachen University visited our faculty on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, as part of a study trip to Belgrade. The purpose of the trip was to visit the project site that the students will be working on during the summer semester. During their visit to our faculty, a panel session was organized featuring lectures and discussions by Prof. Dr. Uroš Radosavljević, Prof. Dr. Ana Nikezić, and Assistant Relja Petrović.
The program began with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Uroš Radosavljević titled “Urban Governance, Planning, and Development of Belgrade.” The presentation covered topics in the planning and development of Belgrade from the mid-19th century to the present day: from the reconstruction of Belgrade after the Ottoman period, the socialist planned development of New Belgrade, issues of informal and illegal construction in the 1990s, to contemporary urban governance, planning, and development.
The second lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ana Nikezić and Assistant Relja Petrović, titled “Heritage in Between.” The intention was to present current phenomena in the treatment of architectural heritage. The focus was on the modernist heritage of the 20th century and the challenges it faces between preservation institutions, public opinion, and new design practices.
The lectures were followed by discussions with students and visiting faculty members. Over twenty students from Aachen attended, along with Prof. Sabine Brück-Dürkop, Prof. Fred Humble, Assistant Veljko Dinić, and Dr. Dasha Kuletskaya, who will be jointly participating in the M1 Studio project titled “Das Hotel Belgrad.”
