Ratka Čolić is assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade. She graduated at the Faculty of Architecture, where she obtained master’s degree and doctorate. During 2003, she completed the postgraduate course Inner City Development and Housing in Transitional Economies at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Her field of research is education and capacity development for sustainable and integrated territorial development, urban governance, citizen participation and stakeholder involvement, and international influences on planning policies. She published papers on integrating sustainability and remodelling higher planning education, and institutional capacity development. She supervised master thesis and projects on urban governance, localizing the SDGs, climate resilience, culture heritage and networks. Her students’ projects were awarded on Salon of Urbanism (2014, 2015, and 2018), GIS DAY (2016). In 2019 the students’ projects were accepted on the Forum Creative Europe 2019 Relations Cultural desk Serbia. She is a researcher within the Innovation Laboratory of Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Architecture. She has been engaged as a member of the PhD thesis commission at Universidad de Deusto, San Sebastián, Spain in 2020. She contributes to implementation of the ERASMUS KA103 mobility program of students and teachers within the cooperation with University of Stuttgart, EIT Climate-KIC’s Europewide Pioneers into Practice Programme, and supports cooperation with UN-HABITAT UNI.
She has been engaged as a national urban planning expert and project manager of capacity development in international projects being implemented in Serbia (UN-Habitat, GIZ, UNOPS European Progress, EU PRO), and as international expert on the Council of Europe program. She was a project manager of the award-winning strategies, plans and studies – Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy of Serbia 2030, Land use Code, Guide on Participation in Urban Development Planning, etc.
