The 32nd International Exhibition of Urbanism was officially opened in the Science and Technology Park Building in Niš, Serbia, on November 8, 2023. The organisers of the Exhibition are Serbian Town Planner Association and representatives of the host city, which is the City of Niš and the Urban Institute of Niš in 2023. The Exhibition of Urbanism represents the largest annual gathering of creativity in the field of urban planning and design in Serbia and region. This year, 138 works were exhibited in 12 categories. The last category consisted of student works, while the other categories were for professional works. The exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue of works.

Four members of the teaching and research staff of the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade – Asst. Dr. Branislav Antonić, Asst. Aleksandar Grujičić, Asst. Đorđe Mitrović and Nikola Mitrović, junior researcher – participated as an author team and took the second place in an open public Design Competition: An Urban-Architectural Competition for the Creation of a Conceptual solution for the Ground Design of the Square of the Trinity Square in Sombor, Serbia. The competition lasted from April 28 to June 26, 2023, and thematically covered all the urban elements of the project of the mentioned square in the historic core of Sombor with pavement, horticulture, and traffic solutions, as well as accompanying research work, where the creative idea and solution of the square were explained based on the analysis of its current state.

We are pleased to announce that assistant professor of the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture Snežana Vesnić will be a member of the jury for the 2023 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award for the Young Talent category. Professor Vesnić has been the Coordinator for National Nominations for the Mies van der Rohe Award in the Union of Architects of Serbia.

Second-year MASA students, Anja Pantić and Zorana Jović won the first prize at the international student competition NEWH Green Voice Design Competition. The selection of works was made by the NEWH, Inc. Scholarship committee, after which the project was chosen as the best of five final works. Students will have the opportunity to present their project within BDNY - Boutique Design New York, a leading fair and conference that brings together architects, designers and professionals in the field of hospitality in New York, in November 2022. At the mentioned event, they will be awarded the NEWH Green Voice Scholarship in the amount of $ 7,500.

Students of the fourth year of the Single-Cycle 5-year Academic Studies of Architecture and the first year of the Master Academic Studies of Architecture: Maša Žujović, Nevena Jeremić and Isidora Kojović won the first prize at the International Student Competition: Textile Structures for New Building 2019, in the category Urban Living – City of the Future.

DANUrB team from the Faculty of Architecture of the Univeristy of Belgrade, alongside the team from a co-partner from Serbia, the University of Novi Sad – Faculty of Technical Sciences, got an award for the best cross-border project in the field of culture and cultural heritage in Serbia at a special ceremony, which was held within 6th National Conference on Cross-border Cooperation on November 14, 2018.

Performing under the name TWIST BOX team, they are the first representatives of our country at this prestigious and unique event, which will be held in Dubai in 2018. This event marked the year 1846 as the year when Prince Alexander Karađorđević founded the “Engineering School” at the Belgrade Lyceum – such school title indicated a commitment to the construction industry.
