Inspired by the Japanese identity(-ies) and its spatial manifestations, guest editor, Teaching Assistant PhD Ivan Filipović, from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Belgrade, invites researchers to contribute with papers exploring the relationship between architectural design and the theory of (Japanese) identity(-ies). ECOBUILT Workshop: Teaching Eco-friendly Architecture

The workshop is a training activity within ERASMUS + program (ERASMUS-EDU-2021-EMJM-DESIGN — Erasmus Mundus Design Measures), the 15-month international project ECOBUILT – Eco-friendly Built Environment (n. 2101050081). This project is a result of mutual efforts of partner institutions: Riga Technical University, Latvia (beneficiary – https://www.rtu.lv/en), University of Genoa, Italy (co-beneficiary – https://unige.it/en/), and University of Belgrade, Serbia (co-beneficiary and hosting institution of the workshop – www.bg.ac.rs/en/). -

By Архитектонски факултет on 30/08/2022The 2nd International conference of the DANUrB+ Project was organised in Sombor, Serbia, and Baja, Hungary, on August 26-27, 2022. The topic of the conference was regional branding and the network building of cultural economy and tourism. Therefore, the conference aimed to find common tracks, living and forgotten/or hidden remnants of cultural heritage in Danubian countries and beyond, which can be re-discovered and activated for regional identity and brand building. Regional branding is an umbrella term. This is a connection between the individual and collective reputation, where a special respect is given to quality, value adding and the strengthening of regional identity. Hence, the branding becomes an important tool for local/regional development and community building. -

FIRST PRIZE AT THE NEWH GREEN VOICE DESIGN COMPETITION INTERNATIONAL STUDENT COMPETITION
By Архитектонски факултет on 14/06/2022Second-year MASA students, Anja Pantić and Zorana Jović won the first prize at the international student competition NEWH Green Voice Design Competition. The selection of works was made by the NEWH, Inc. Scholarship committee, after which the project was chosen as the best of five final works. Students will have the opportunity to present their project within BDNY - Boutique Design New York, a leading fair and conference that brings together architects, designers and professionals in the field of hospitality in New York, in November 2022. At the mentioned event, they will be awarded the NEWH Green Voice Scholarship in the amount of $ 7,500. -

Team from the Faculty of Architecture at the meeting of the DANUrB+ INTERREG Project in Calarasi, Romania
By Архитектонски факултет on 08/06/2022Two representatives of the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade – Prof. Aleksandra Djukić and Asst. Branislav Antonić – participated in the meeting of the DANUrB+ INTERREG Project in Calarasi, Romania, on May 30-June 3, 2022. The meeting sessions were also attended by the associate partners of the faculty from Smederevo and Sombor. The topics of the sessions were: action plans for Danubian cities and towns, work with stakeholders at the local level, establishing the project quality label and intangible cultural heritage along the Danube. Aside od the sessions, faculties of architecture from Budapest and Belgrade agreed about joint activities in the area of Sombor in Serbia and Baja in Hungary. -

Students and teaching staff at the Erasmus+ workshop of the CREATIVE DANUBE Project in Calarasi, Romania
By Архитектонски факултет on 08/06/2022Students and teaching staff of the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade participated in the Erasmus+ workshop of the CREATIVE DANUBE Project in Calarasi, Romania, May 30-June 3, 2022. Five students (Nikola Mitrović, Marko Milosavlјević, Milica Ristović, Neda Stamenković & Milen Galetin) worked for five days with colleagues from the faculties of architecture from Krems, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Novi Sad and Bucharest on revitalisation projects for Calarasi, as a middle-sized Danubian city. The projects of all student groups were presented on the last day of the workshop, with an additional debate. Two mentors were in front of the faculty: Asst.Prof. Danijela Milovanović Rodić and Asst. Jelena Marić. -

LECTURE “AN ALTERNATIVE2 GUIDE TO JAPAN’S BUILT ENVIRONMENT

To research this phenomenon, it is necessary to pay special attention to both contextual (social, technological, political) and time determinants (interaction of past, present and future). The specificity of the Japanese built environment, its perception and interpretation is a challenge, precisely because of its complexity, contradictions and underlined (self-proclaimed) uniqueness. Any phenomenon in Japan can be viewed in two ways: from the "outside" and/or "inside". The lecture " An Alternative2 Guide to Japan’s Built Environment " was conceived to provide an "outside" viewpoint. Looking from the sidelines, focusing on space, displaced from the context in which the phenomena originated, it is possible to discover the complex structures that mark Japanese architecture, urbanism and the built environment as unique... -
