Jelena Ristić Trajković is an Associate Professor at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture (UB-FA), where she is involved in architectural design and theoretical courses. She also teaches Design Methodology at the University of Arts in Belgrade – Faculty of Applied Arts.
She graduated from the UB-FA (2007) and received the University of Belgrade Award for exceptional accomplishment during her studies as the best student who graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 2006/2007. She holds a PhD in Architecture from UB-FA in the field of Architectural Design and Contemporary Architecture (2016).
Since 2017, she has been the Program Board Member of the UB-FA Research Center (CID). She participates in the work of the Laboratory for Typology and Morphology of the City (Morpho-lab) and the Laboratory for Modern Heritage at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture.
She is involved in several research projects and networks mainly focused on design methodology, housing, climate and societal changes as a central theme, especially on educating the professional and general public in the context of developing a critical reflection on society and cities. Since 2008, she has been involved in 3 national scientific research projects in the field of research and systematization of housing development in Serbia (2011-2019), improvement of curricula in studio-based design education (2017-2018), and development and application of scientific methods in design and construction of structural systems (2008-2009). She is currently engaged as a researcher within the Institutional model of financing researchers by MESTDS (since January 2020). She also participates in several international scientific research projects: Introducing User-driven design and agile development skills in the case of sustainable service housing for elderly (sUser) – Scientific Coordinator and researcher; Enhancing of Heritage Awareness and Sustainability of Built Environment in Architectural and Urban Design Higher Education (HERSUS) – Project manager for Quality Control and researcher; Eco-Friendly Built Environment (ECOBUILT) – Expert Group Leader and Researcher; CA21166 – Social Sciences and Humanities for Transformation and Climate Resilience (SHiFT) – Working Group Co-leader and Management Committee Member; CA18126 – Writing Urban Places: New Narratives of the European City – Management Committee and Working Group Member, CA16226 – SHELD-ON: Indoor living space improvement – Smart Habitat for the Elderly – Working Group Member, CA17133 – CIRCULAR CITY: Implementing nature-based solutions for creating a resourceful circular city – Working Group Member; EUROPE READR project in Serbia – coordinator for UB-FA; TU1201 Urban Allotment Gardens in Europe – Working Group Member; OIKONET – A global multidisciplinary network on housing research and learning – Researcher).
She is the author of more than 60 scientific papers published in international and regional scientific journals, conference proceedings, and scientific monographs.
Within the professional-artistic field, she acts through architectural-urban competitions, projects and design, as well as through various activities aimed at contributing to the academic and broader community. She participated in developing the national Guidelines on terms and standards for designing residential buildings and apartments (Službeni glasnik RS. 58, 13 June 2012).
She has won several awards and recognitions for scientific research and professional-artistic work (6 international and 1 national award).
She has been engaged in the work of several scientific and organizational boards of scientific conferences, as well as in coordinating and applying for scientific research projects at the Faculty of Architecture. In 2011 and 2012, she was secretary of the Department of Architecture. She has been the coordinator and member of numerous committees at UB-FA. She has continuously participated in the accreditation of UB-FA study programs according to RIBA standards since 2013, with an exceptional contribution in the last accreditation cycle as a Coordinator of the Accreditation Committee.
